More retail work is also slated for the Far West Side of San Antonio as it continues to boom with new development and soaring home prices.

Culebra Creek Plaza at 12030 Culebra Road will be a $1.6 million, 10,633-square-foot project.

Birju Patel, director of development at Krishna Retail SA, the firm behind the development, said he’s hopes to break ground in three months.

“It’s an excellent location and excellent market,” said Patel.

According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, San Antonio-based Villa Park Architecture/Planning/Interiors, PLLC will lead the design of the project.

A completion date of April 1 is listed for the build that will neighbor a Whataburger and Walgreens.

Patel, who said this is the first retail project he’s worked on in the city, said another retail center, totaling 23,000 square feet is also being planned across the street from the coming Culebra Creek Plaza.

He also said a retail center on Potranco Rd. is in the works, but did not disclose further details.
